Introducenewvocabularywordsrelatedtobooksandreading.Writethefollowingwordsontheboard:

Explainthemeaningofeachwordandprovideexamplesofbooksthatfallintoeachcategory.Encouragestudentstoaskquestionsandprovidetheirownexamples.

ListeningComprehension(1a-1c)(15minutes)

Distributethehandoutswiththelisteningexercisestostudents.

Playtheaudiorecordingforthefirstlisteningexercise(1a)andhavestudentslistenandfillintheblanks.

Playtherecordingagainforstudentstochecktheiranswers.

Reviewthecorrectanswersasaclass,discussinganychallengingvocabularyorphrases.
