TheDEGANBIIILCDgasdetectorisdesignedforsimpleapplicationswheretheconcentrationofdangerousexplosivesortoxicsubstancescanoccur.

ThedetectorisnotintendedfordetectioninindustrialandcommercialareasrequiringATEXcertificationorinareaswithan“Ex”explosionhazard.WerecommendDEGANSIILCDRE(zone2)orDEGANSIIILCDRE(zone1)fortheseareas.

Basicgasdetectionmethods:

CL–catalyticsensor(Pelistor)

Theyoperateontheprincipleofcatalyticcombustion–gasconcentrationismeasuredbasedontheamountofheatreleasedinacontrolledcombustionreaction.Thereactionissupportedbyasuitabletemperatureandthepressenceofacatalyst.Thesesensorscanbeusedtodetectabroadrangeofflammablegases.Thesensorsarecharacterizedbyfastresponse,alonglifetimeandhighstability.Aminimumof10%ofoxygenintheairisrequiredforit’sproperfunction.

EL–electrochemicalsensor

Theyoperateontheprincipleofchangeofelectricalparametersontheelectrodesstoredinelectrolyte,duetooxidation/reductionreactionsofthedetectedgasonit’ssurface.Thesesensorshavegoodselectivityandtheabilitytodetectverylowconcentrationsoftoxicgases.

IL–infraredsensor

Thetopqualityscanningmethod.Theyoperateontheprincipleofinfraredspectroscopy.Thesensorshaveexcellentselecivityinorganicmatter,donotrequireanyoxygenintheatmoshpereandareresistanttocatalystpoisons(sulfurandsiliconcompounds)whichcauseachangeofsensitivityofcatalyticsensors.Thesensorsarecharacterizedbyhighstabilityandalonglifetime.

SL–semiconductorsensor

Theyoperateontheprincipleofchangesinelectricalconductivityofsemiconductorsbychangingtheconcentrationofthedetectedgas.Theiradvatageisalonglifetimeinacleanenvironmentandawiderangeofdifferenttypesofgasesandvapors.Theirdisadvatageistheirlowselectivity–thesensorlarglyrespondstoothergasesforwhichitisnotcalibrated.

PID–photoionizationsensor

ThesensitivescanningmethodfordetectionofawiderangeofVOC–volatileorganiccompounds.ThesensordoesnotselectivelydetectallVOCsintheairatconcentrationsinppm.
