3BasicRequirements
3.0.1Thegeotechnicaltestsofoffshorewindpowerprojectsshallbedeterminedaccordingto
thesitegeologicalconditionsanddesignrequirements.
3.0.2Therocksandsoilofoffshorewindpowerprojectsshallbeclassifiedinaccordance
withtherelevantprovisionsofthecurrentnationalstandardGB50021,CodeforInvestigation
ofGeotechnicalEngineering.
3.0.3Thetestmethodsforphysicalandmechanicalpropertiesofrockandsoilinoffshore
windpowerprojectsshouldbeselectedaccordingtoAppendixAofthisSpecification,and
therequirementsandmanagementofspecimensshallcomplywiththerequirementsof
AppendixBofthisSpecification.Thespecimenmassgradingrequirementsforlaboratory
testsandthesamplingmethodsofspecimensfordifferentlevelsshallcomplywiththe
relevantprovisionsofthecurrentnationalstandardGB50021,CodeforInvestigationof
GeotechnicalEngineering.
3.0.4Dataprocessingandstatisticalanalysisofgeotechnicaltestsshallcomplywiththe
relevantprovisionsofthecurrentnationalstandardGB50021,CodeforInvestigationof
GeotechnicalEngineering.
3.0.5Theinstrumentsandequipmentusedinthegeotechnicaltestsshallcomplywiththe
relevantprovisionsofthecurrentnationalstandardGB/T15406,PrimaryParameterand
GeneralSpecificationforGeotechnicalEngineeringInstrument”,andshallbetestedor
calibratedandverified.
3.0.6Thesensoroftheinstrumentandequipmentshallbecalibratedregularlyorbeforethe
test.Incaseofanyabnormalityinuse,itshallberecalibrated.Thesensors,wiresand
measuringinstrumentsusedinthecalibrationshallbethesameasthoseusedinthetest.
3.0.7Nationalcertifiedreferencematerialsshallbeusedforchemicalanalysisfortraceability.
3.0.8Thediscardedspecimensofgeotechnicaltestshallbeplacedinsuchpositionas
specifiedbythecompetentenvironmentaladministrativedepartment,whichshallnotbe
dumpedorstackedcasually.
3.0.9Specialmeasuresshallbetakentoensurethesafetyofequipmentandpersonnel
accordingtothesiteconditionspriortothein-situtests.
3.0.10Exceptforspecialrequirements,thewaterusedintestshallbepurewater.

4PreparationandSaturationofSpecimen
4.1GeneralRequirements
4.1.1Thegrainsizeofthepreparedspecimenshouldnotbegreaterthan20mm,andthe
specimenwithagrainsizeofgreaterthan20mmshallbeinaccordancewiththerelevant
provisionsofthecurrentnationalstandardGB50123,StandardforSoilTestMethod.
4.1.2Oneortwomorespecimensshouldbepreparedforstandby.Themaximumallowable
densitydifferenceofthesamegroupofundisturbedspecimensshouldnotbegreaterthan
0.03g/cm3,andthemaximumallowabledifferenceofwatercontentshouldnotbegreaterthan
2%.Theallowabledifferencebetweenthedensityofdisturbedspecimensofthesamegroup
andthatrequiredasperthepreparationstandardshouldnotbegreaterthan0.02g/cm3,andthe
allowabledifferencebetweenthewatercontentandthatrequiredasperpreparationstandard
shouldnotbegreaterthan1%.
4.2SpecimenPreparation
4.2.1ThepreparationforconsolidationTest,directsheartestandpermeabilityTestof
undisturbedsoilspecimenshallsatisfythefollowingrequirements:
1Thesoilspecimenshallbeplacedinthecorrectdirectionasindicatedonthesoil
specimencylinder,andthestructureofthesoilspecimenshallbecheckedoncethecylinderis
opened.Incasethesoilspecimenisseriouslydisturbedorthequalityofthesoilspecimenfails
tosatisfytherequirements,noundisturbedsoilspecimenshallbeprepared.Theupperand
lowerlayersofthesoilspecimenshallbeidentifiedfurther,andbothendsofthesoilspecimen
shallbeleveled.
2Athinlayerofvaselineshallbecoatedontheinnerwallofthecuttingringforthetest
beforetheplacementofthecuttingedgeonthesoilspecimendownward.Cutthesoil
specimenintoasoilcolumnwiththediameterslightlylargerthanthatofthecuttingring,and
thenpressdownthecuttingringverticallyuntilthesoilspecimenextendsoutofthecutting
ring.Thespecimenandthecuttingringshallbeconnectedclosely.Removetheremainingsoil
atbothendsandlevelit.Cleantheouterwallofthecuttingring,andweighthetotalmassof
thecuttingringandthesoilwithanaccuracyof0.1g.
3Observethesoilspecimencarefullyinthecuttingprocess.Describethelayer,smell
andcolorofthespecimen.Inaddition,recordanyimpurity,uniformityandcrackofthe
specimen.
4Theremainingundisturbedsoilspecimenshouldbewrappedinwaxpaperandputin

thehumidcontainerforsupplementarytestuse;theremainingrepresentativecutsoilmaybe
usedforthephysicaltest.
5Determinewhetherthespecimenissaturateddependingonitsnatureandtest
requirements.Whenthespecimenisnottestedimmediatelyorsaturated,itshallbestoredin
thehumidcontainertemporarily.
4.2.2Thespecimenpreparationofundisturbedsoilforunconfinedcompressivestrengthtest,
triaxialcompressiontest,triaxialcreeptest,dynamictriaxialtestandresonantcolumn
testshallmeetthefollowingrequirements:
1Theratioofheighttodiameterofthesoilspecimenshallbe2.0to2.5.Whenthe
diameterofthespecimenislessthanorequalto100mm,themaximumallowablegrainsizeis
1/10ofthespecimendiameter.Whenthediameterisgreaterthan100mm,themaximum
allowablegrainsizeis1/5ofthediameter.
2Thesoilspecimenshallbeplacedinthecorrectdirectionasindicatedonthe
specimencylinder,andthestructureofthesoilspecimenshallbecheckedonceopened.In
casethesoilspecimenisseriouslydisturbedorthequalityofthesoilspecimenfailstosatisfy
therequirements,noundisturbedsoilspecimenshallbeprepared.
3Forasoftsoilspecimen,cutandobtainasoilcolumnslightlylargerthanthespecified
sizewithawiresaworasoilcutter,andplaceitbetweentheupperandlowerpartsofthe
cuttingplate.Thencutthecolumnfromtoptobottombythewiresaworsoilcutterclosetothe
sideplateandrotatetheplatewhilecuttinguntilspecimendiameterreachesthespecified
value.Leveltheupperandlowerendsbythespecimenheight.
4Forahardsoilspecimen,cutandobtainasoilcolumnslightlylargerthanthespecified
sizewithasoilcutterorwiresaw,andleveltheupperandlowerends.Placethespecimenon
thecutterframebythelayerdirectionrequiredbyspecimen,andcutwithasoilcutter.Firstly,
applyathinlayerofoilontheinnerwallofthecutterblade,andalignthecutterbladewith
thetopsurfaceofthespecimen.Cutthespecimenwhilepressingthecutteruntilitisabout
2cmhigherthantherequiredspecimen.Thendisassemblethecutter,takeoutthespecimen,
andlevelthetwoendstoarequiredheight.
5Thetwofacesofthespecimenshallbeflat,evenandinparallel,andthesidesshallbe
perpendiculartothefaces.Intheprocessofsamplecutting,holesformedbygravelonthe
surfaceofspecimenmaybefilledwithresidualsoil.
6Weighthecutspecimen.Theweightofthespecimenwithadiametergreaterthan
100mmshallbeaccurateto1.0g,whilethatwithadiameterlessthanorequalto100mmshall
beaccurateto0.1g.Taketheresidualsoilandtestthewatercontentatthesametime.Thetest

forthewatercontentshallnotbelessthantwogroups,andthedifferenceofthewater
contentshallmeettherequirementsofArticle4.1.2ofthisSpecification.
4.2.3Thepreparationforthedisturbedfine-grainedsoilspecimenshallmeetthefollowing
requirements:
1Describethecolor,soiltype,smellandinclusionsofthedisturbedsoilspecimen.The
disturbedsoilmaybefullymixed,andtaketherepresentativespecimentomeasurethewater
content.
2Putthedisturbedblockspecimenonarubberplateforcrushingwithawoodrolleror
soilcrusher,andthegrainshallnotbecrushed.Whenthewatercontentishigh,itcanbe
air-drieduntilitiseasytobecrushed.
3Sievethecrushedspecimen.Whenthediameterofspecimenislessthanorequalto
100mm,themaximumallowablegrainsizeis1/10ofthediameter.Whenthediameterof
specimenisgreaterthan100mm,themaximumallowablegrainsizeis1/5ofthediameter.
4Usequarterdiagonalsamplingmethodorsandseparatortotakeenoughrepresentative
specimensuponsieving,andputsuchspecimensintotheglasscylinder.Suchspecimenshall
belabeled.Forair-driedsoil,thewatercontentshallbetested.
5Calculatetheamountofair-driedsoilandwaterrequiredforspecimenpreparation
accordingtothedrydensityandwatercontentasrequiredbymoldvolume.Spraythewater
tobeaddedonthesoilandmixthemwell.Putthemixtureintoaplasticbagafterawhile,and
thenputsuchinaclosedcontainerforatleast20hourstomakethewatercontenteven.Take
outthesoilandretestthewatercontent,whichshouldmeettherequirementsofArticle4.1.2
ofthisSpecification.
6Pourthewetsoilintothemoldandfixitinthecompactoronthebottomplate.Forthe
specimensoftriaxialcompressiontest,dynamictriaxialtestandresonantcolumntest,they
shouldbecompactedinlayersbyspecimenheight.Dividethesiltinto3-5layers,andthe
cohesivesoilisdividedinto5-8layers.Fortheconsolidationtest,directsheartestand
permeabilitytest,thespecimenshouldnotbecompactedinlayers.Levelthetwoendsofthe
specimeninsamplecylinderandtakeitouttoweighitsmass.
Note:AccordingtothecurrentnationalstandardGB/T50145,StandardforEngineering
ClassificationofSoil,fine-grainedsoilreferstosuchwithagrainsizeoflessthan0.075mmaccountingfor
nolessthan50%.
4.2.4Specimenpreparationofdisturbedsandshallmeetthefollowingrequirements:
1Specimenpreparationoftriaxialcompressiontest,dynamictriaxialtest,andresonant
columntestshallbecarriedoutinstepsasfollows:

1)Sievethesoilspecimen.Whenthediameterofspecimenislessthanorequalto
100mm,themaximumallowablegrainsizeis1/10ofthediameter.Whenthe
diameterofspecimenisgreaterthan100mm,themaximumallowablegrainsizeis
1/5ofthediameter.
2)Weighandtaketherequiredamountofair-driedsandspecimenaccordingtothedry
densityandspecimenvolumeasrequiredbythetest,anddividesuchspecimeninto
threeequalparts.Boiltheminwater,andthencoolsuchforstandby.
3)Opentheporewaterpressurevalveandmeteringvalvetomakethebaseofpressure
chamberfilledwithwater.Slidetheboiledpermeableplateontothebaseof
pressurechamberandwrapitwithrubberbandtopreventsandfromleakinginto
thebase.Closetheporewaterpressurevalveandmeteringvalve,andputoneend
oftherubbermembraneonthebaseofthepressurechamberandtieittightly.Put
thesplitmoldonthebase,andturntheupperendoftherubbermembraneout.
Then,extracttheairtomaketherubbermembraneclosetotheinnerwallofsplit
mold.
4)Injectairlesswaterintotherubbermembranetoabout1/3ofthespecimenheight.
Putapieceofboiledandcooledsandspecimenintothemembranewitha
long-handledspoon,andfillittotherequiredheight.Forthespecimenwith
fine-grainedsoilandahighdrydensity,drysandmaybeusedforpreparation,and
waterheadsaturationorbackpressuresaturationmaybeadopted.
5)Uponthecompletionoffillingthefirstlayerofsandspecimen,continuetoinject
waterto2/3ofthespecimenheight,andthenfillthesecondlayerofsandspecimen.
Continuethefillingofspecimenuntilthemoldisfull.Whenthedrydensityis
requiredtobelarge,thesplitmoldmaybetappedgentlyinthefillingprocessto
maketheweighedsandspecimentobefilledatthespecifiedvolume.Theninstall
thepermeableplateandspecimencap,turnovertherubbermembrane,andtieiton
thespecimencap.
6)Openthemeteringvalvetolowerthemeteringpipesothatthewatersurfaceinthe
pipeisabout0.2mbelowtheelevationofthecenterofthespecimen.Whenthe

1)Take1,200grepresentativeair-driedsandspecimenssievedby2mmsievefor
standby.Weightherequiredamountofair-driedsandforeachspecimenaccording
totherequireddrydensityinanaccuracyof0.1g.
2)Duringthedirectsheartest,aligntheupperandlowerboxes,andinsertthefixing
pin.Putthecleanpermeableorimpermeableplateintotheshearbox.
3)Pourthepreparedsandspecimenintothecuttingringofshearboxorconsolidation
container,andflattenthesurface.Putthehardwoodblockonthesurface,andgently
tapitwithhandstomakethespecimenreachtherequireddrydensity.
4.2.5Specimenpreparationforringsheartestshallmeetthefollowingrequirements:
1Soakthedisturbedsoilspecimensinpurewaterfor24h,distributethemuniformlyto
soilpasteinliquidlimitstate,andthenfillthemintothelimitring.
2Inthefillingprocess,fillaroundthelimitringfirstandthenthemiddlepart.Thegasin
thespecimenshallbeeliminated.
3Scrapethespecimentoptobeflushwiththeuppersurfaceofthespecimenbox.
4.2.6Specimenpreparationfortruetriaxialtestshallmeetthefollowingrequirements:
1Thespecimenshouldbeincuboidorcube,ofwhichthesixfaces(up,down,left,right,
frontandback)shallbeflat,andtheoppositefacesshallbeparalleltoeachotherandvertical
