知識點1:情態(tài)動詞的類型

只作情態(tài)動詞must;can(could);may(might)

可作情態(tài)動詞也可作實意動詞need

可作情態(tài)動詞也可作助動詞will(would);shall(should)

具有情態(tài)動詞的某些特征haveto;oughtto;wouldrather;hadbetter;usedto

知識點2:情態(tài)動詞的特征

1.有一定的詞義,但不能單獨作謂語,必須和行為動詞或系動詞連用,構(gòu)成謂語。

2.無人稱和數(shù)的變化(haveto例外,用于第三人稱單數(shù)時用hasto).

例:我們必須待在這兒。___________________________

3.后接動詞原形,即不帶to的不定式。

批注:情態(tài)動詞的基本特征,對于基礎(chǔ)不錯的學(xué)生而言,已經(jīng)掌握得很清晰了,老師可以根據(jù)學(xué)生的程度

進(jìn)行選擇。

知識點3:can,could的用法

表能力,意為“能、會”例:你會打籃球么?___________________________

表懷疑、猜測,常用于否定句和疑問句中例:他不可能在房間里。______________________

表請求或允許,多用于口語中,意為“可以”,相例:你現(xiàn)在可以走了。

could是can的過去式,可以表示過去的能力;例:我七歲時就會游泳。

還可以表示委婉語氣

以can開頭的一般疑問句,其肯定回答和否定回CanIhavealookatthisbook?

批注:相對而言,can表示猜測的用法更為常考些,尤其要注意此時的can不能用在肯定句中,老師可以

多舉幾個例子方便學(xué)生理解。

知識點4:may和might的用法

表推測,意為“可能,也許“例:他明天可能會來?!?/p>

表請求、許可,意為“可以”例:我可以借用你的書么?

表祝愿例:Mayyousucceed.祝你成功。

|表示征求意見或允許|可以和can互換使用

批注:may表請求,用于主語為第一人稱的一般疑問句時,肯定回答用can.

其余定回答用mustn't或can't,不用maynot,意為“不可以,不允許,禁止”。

例:MayIgonow?我現(xiàn)在可以走了么?

No,youmustn't.不,不可以。

批注:may表示猜測,區(qū)別于can的最大特點就是may一般都用于肯定的(不太確定的)推測;但may

表示請求許可的用法也是經(jīng)??嫉?,特別是may引起的一般疑問句,其回答需要注意:肯定回答使

用can,否定回答則不能用maynot,只能用can,t或者mustn't.

知識點5:must的用法

表示“必須”你今天必須完成你的家庭作業(yè)。________________

表示推測,意為“一定”,一般用于肯定句-There'ssomeoneknockingonthedoor.有人敲門。

-ItmustbeJim.肯定是吉姆。

批注:講解must的用法時,建議從漢語意思入手,“一定”和“必須”。

1)作“一定”解時,must的用法是表示肯定推測,而且只能用于肯定句中表示肯定推測,而很多學(xué)

生總是認(rèn)為,must表示“一定”,那么“mustn't”就是“一定不”的意思,那么最簡單的方式就是告

訴學(xué)生:英語中只有“一定”的表達(dá)方式,根本就沒有“一定不”這樣的表達(dá)方式,如果需要表示

否定推測,H]“can,t”即可。

2)作“必須”解時,以must開頭的疑問句,肯定回答應(yīng)用must,而否定回答則常用needn't或don,thave

to,意為“不需要、不必“,而不能用mustn't。

例:-MustIfinishtheworktoday?我必須今天完成這項工作么?

No,youneedn't.不,不必。

知識點6:need的用法

need做實義動詞1)need后加todo表示“需要(主動)去做”,用助動詞提問或否定;

2)need后加doing衣被動,”需要(被)做”,用助動詞提問或否定;

need做情態(tài)動詞need后加動詞原形,用need提問或否定,

肯定回答用must,否定回答用needn't.

例:你不必這么早來學(xué)校。_______________________

批注:其實need真正作為情態(tài)動詞去考察時比較簡單,就是否定形式“needn't沒必要",這種考察方式學(xué)

生很少出錯。need考察頻率最高的其實是:區(qū)分其兩種用法;區(qū)分need作實意動詞時后面接todo和doing

的異同。所以講解時要針對這兩點進(jìn)行細(xì)致分析。

知識點7:shall/should的用法

shall用于第一人稱,表示征求意見、例:我打開窗戶好么?_

詢問Keys:ShallIopenthewindow?

我們在這兒吃午飯好么?____________________

Keys:Shallwehavelunchhere?

should常用來表示義務(wù)、責(zé)任例:我們應(yīng)該遵守交通規(guī)則。_____________________

Keys:Weshouldobeytrafficlaws.

批注:這幾個詞中,考察相對較多的還,是should表示“應(yīng)該”的用法。另外,shall用于第一人稱的疑問句中,

表示尋求建議,所以該疑問句的回答也要用相對性的形式回答。

知識點8:will/would的用法

will用于助動詞表將來我的同學(xué)明天要來拜訪我。_____

Keys:Myclassmateswillvisitmetomorrow.

will用于第二人稱表示詢問、請求,也可Willyoupassmethebook?你能把那本書遞給我么?

以表達(dá)現(xiàn)在的“意愿”Wewilldoanythingforyou.我們會為你做任何事。

would用來表示過去的意愿或者委婉的你能告訴我去車站的路么?________________________

詢問Keys:Wouldyoutellmethewaytothestation?

批注:will在表示將來時時要注意和begoingto在題目中的考察。例如:

There(be)afootballmatchtomorrow,isn'tthere?

Keys:isgoingtobe

Would在題目中??嫉膬煞N句型是:Wouldyoulike...?/Wouldyouplease...?

知識點9:hadbetter/wouldrather/usedto/oughtto的用法

后面接動詞原形,表示最好/寧愿/過去常常/應(yīng)該做某事,否定式用hadbetternotdosth./wouldrathernot

dosth./didn'tusetodosth.(usedn'ttodosth.)/oughtnottodosth.

例:你最好不要天天看電視.____________________________

我寧愿呆在家里也不愿意出去。_____________________________

我爸爸過去常常早起。___________________________

批注:這些動詞短語在平時的學(xué)習(xí)中可以當(dāng)做搭配來記,也可以告訴學(xué)生將它們當(dāng)做情態(tài)動詞記憶,后面

一律是動詞原形,但是還是要注意這些詞組的否定形式。

知識點10:can和beableto的區(qū)別

can和beableto表示能力時用法相同,

can只用于現(xiàn)在時和過去時(could),其他時態(tài)要用beableto。

例:Jimcouldn'tspeakChineselastyear,butnowhecan.吉姆去年不會說外語,但現(xiàn)在他會了。

Wewillbeabletoebacknextweek.我們下周能回來。

批注:這兩種搭配的區(qū)別在初中最常見的考察方式就是用法將來時且將will這個助動詞給出,讓學(xué)生選擇

用哪個,或者用在不定式中,將加先給出,讓學(xué)生選擇用can還是beableto.

解析:本道題考查beableto和can的區(qū)分。Can和beableto不能放在一起使用,所以A選項不對,其次

句中后面有時間狀語提示nextterm,所以是一般將來時,選擇B。

知識11:can,may的區(qū)別

1)如果兩者都表示請求,則may的語氣比can更有禮貌,一般情況下用于長輩或尊敬的人。

MayItakethisbookoutofthelibrary?我可以將這本書帶出圖書館嗎?

2).can和may都表示推測時,在肯定苞中,may用表示可能。

你最好問警察,他可能知道。_________________________________

在否定句中,若語氣肯定,表示"不可能''時用cant若語氣不肯定,表示“可能不”時用maynot。

李老師不可能在,他去北京參觀/訪問了。

批注:主要還是強調(diào)may可以用于肯定句,而can不能;另外有一點也相當(dāng)重要,就是maynot不能取代

cannot,兩者的意思是完全不一樣的,可以這樣解釋:maynot是不確定的否定推測,“可能不”,而

cannot是確切的否定推斷,“不可能

解析:本題考查情態(tài)動詞表推測。問句的句意是“約翰將會乘火車來嗎?”后面答句中后面關(guān)鍵提示是“他喜

歡開自己的車。”所以不確定他會怎么受,選擇表示不確定的情態(tài)動詞may,表示也許。

知識12:could,should,would,might表示委婉語氣

could,should,would,might等過去式有時不表示過去,而是表示更委婉客氣的語氣。

例:Wouldyoutellmethewaytothepark?你能告訴我去公園的路么?

批注:一要區(qū)分這幾個詞在句子中到底是過去時還是委婉語氣,一般根據(jù)上下文都是能推斷出來的。而要

注意當(dāng)這些情態(tài)動詞的過去式表示委婉語氣時,回答不能用過去式,而是原形。例如:

Couldyouhelpmewithmymath?Yes,Ican.

例1:你能告訴我湯姆擁有這輛汽車多長時間了嗎?

答案:CouldyoutellmehowlongTomhashadthecar?

解析:本題考查的是情態(tài)動詞和賓語從句的結(jié)合。前面的could不是過去式而是委婉語氣,因而后面的賓

語從句應(yīng)該是現(xiàn)在完成時。但是做題過程中要注意賓語從句的陳述句語序以及現(xiàn)在完成時延續(xù)性動詞的使

用。

知識點13:must和have(has)to的區(qū)別

must和have(has)to意思均為“必須”,??梢曰Q使用。但have(has)to用于強調(diào)客觀需求,意為“必須、不

得不”;must用于表示主觀看法,意為“必須、應(yīng)該工

例:We'llhavetoaskZhangHonginstead.我們必須去找張紅代替了。

Wemustworkhardatschool.在學(xué)校我們必須努力學(xué)習(xí)。

批注:這兩個詞最好的區(qū)分辦法就是直接將“haveto”翻譯成“不得不”,其本身在意思上就有被迫的意思在

里面,而must是“必須”的意思,本身是主觀的一種意愿,這樣就很好區(qū)分開了。另外,haveto的

否定與must的否定,在意思上相差很大:don?thaveto不得不,mushft禁止,不允許。

知識點14:maybe和maybe的區(qū)別

may為情態(tài)動詞,后加動詞原形be用在句中;

maybe為副詞,表示“大概,也許",相當(dāng)于perh叩s,用于句首。

例:Hemaybeanewteacherhere.=Maybeheisanewteacherhere.

Maybehewillarrivehereontime.=Hemayarrivehereontime.

例1:He(可能是)astudent.Tmnotsure.

答案:maybe

解析:本題考查maybe和maybe的區(qū)分,句中沒有謂語動詞,因而要選擇一個可以做謂語動詞的形式,

maybe是副詞,因而選擇maybe。

知識點15:情態(tài)動詞表推測時的區(qū)分

情態(tài)動詞表示推測在初中階段??嫉氖莄an,may和mustocan表示推測時用于否定句表示“不可能”,may

表示推測時在不確定的情況下使用,must表示推測時根據(jù)最大,語氣最肯定。Must表肯定時否定是cant

mustn't表示"禁止,不允許",maynot表示“可能不”。
