Lobster,atermthatmightconjureimagesofadeliciousseafooddinnerforsome,isatypeofcrustaceanthatbelongstothefamilyNephropidae.Thesecreaturesarefoundinalltheworld'soceans,aswellasinbrackishwaterandfreshwaterenvironments.Withtheirhardexoskeletons,longantennae,andapairoflargeclaws,lobstersareeasilyrecognizableandfascinatingtomany.

Lobstersareknownfortheirabilitytoregeneratelostlimbs.Ifalobsterlosesaclaworanantenna,itcangrowbackovertime.Thisregenerativeabilityisoneofthemanyreasonswhylobstershavebeenasubjectofinterestinscientificresearch.
