Topic: Grade 9 Unit 9 I like music that I can dance to. Section B 2a2eGood afternoon, ladies and gentleman, Im contestant number 25, today my topic is Unit 9 I like music that I can dance to. Section B 2a2e, now Ill say the lesson from four parts. Part One Analysis of the Teaching Material (一) STATUS AND FUNCTION 1. In this unit, students get to learn and practice about music and movies They also learn to express their preferences so that they can think independently and be brave enough to show their own opinions. The Attributive Clause is also introduced in this unit .2. This period is the second part of Section B, its a long reading passage about Chinese folk musician Abing. Students can enjoy the beauty of Chinese folk music and some more Chinese culture. (二)TEACHING AIMS AND DEMANDS 1.Knowledge objects (1) Vocabulary such as sadness, reflect, moving, perform(2) The attributive clause to describe the music and people.2.Ability objects (1) To train the Ss ability of working in pairs. (2) To develop the Ss abilities of the reading skills such as noting supporting details. 3.Moral objects To make the Ss to enjoy the Chinese classical music and like the Chinese culture. Help them to have a better understanding of the Chinese folk musician.4.Learning Strategy. 1) Master some basic learning strategies, such as how to get the main idea in reading. 2)Use an interesting mind-map that is fishbone to finish the task.5.Culture awareness To make ss know something about Chinese classical music, Chinese folk musician Abing and his life. (三)TEACHING KEY AND DIFFICULT POINTS 1.Key points: (1).Students can learn some reading skills while reading the article.(2).Further understanding about Chinese traditional culture.2.Difficult points: To retell the paragraph by using the supporting details.(五) TEACHING AIDS Multi-media computer, Software: Powerpoint or Authorware and so on. They will be needed in this lesson. Part Two The Teaching Methods The students in Grade Nine are energetic and enthusiastic in language classroom and willing and active to participate. After the learning of section A, students have mastered the vocabulary and sentences on music. Theyve also known and expressed their own taste of music. So in this lesson Ill mainly use Communicative teaching method, Situational language teaching method and “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, Ill let the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the reading. Ill give the Ss some tasks and arrange five kinds of activities: talking, guessing games, listening, acting out and having a competition.Part Three STUDYING WAYS 1. Ss know the reading strategy such as scan, skim, main-map, noting supporting details and so on. 2.Let the Ss pass ObservationImitationPractice to study language. 3. Ss learn to use the information in the reading to retell and make new conversation to communicate with others, make them have good learning habits and become good language learners.
