In no way indeed did I grudge my mon ey. As I directed the telescope towards the light house, the manbeside me tapped my

Blake had vowed to avenge the insult to his honour. But thanks to t he wiseadvice of a man they both respected, they apologised to each ot

8、her, and soon s eemed tohave got over their disagreeme nt. But some slight rese ntme nt and bitter ness rema in ed.and it was feared that the stra in of con ti nued isolati on and rough weather m ight affecttheir n erves, though, n eedless to say, their frie nds had no idea how serious t he conseque

The relief men climbed the win di ng sta ir to the Ian ternroom and there discovered Marti ns body, crouched beside the bur ning lamp. He had been stabbed and was dead. Two days l

Then, appalled by what he had done, the Ion eli ness ,thebattering of wind and waves, Blake had rushed to the parapet and flung himself o n to the
