5、at the table and she hands me a plate. The thought of all that food turns my stomach, but I force a smile and thank my mother again. She busies herself at the sink and fills the silence with chatter. When she turns around, she takes in the waffles still on my plate, only missing a few bites. I smile
6、 apologetically.Innot very hungry this morning.”y Youll need your strength for this afternoon. She bites her lip. She doesnt like to bring it upover breakfast. I eat another bite.“I packed your lunch. ”I Im 18, Mom. I can pack my own lunch. You have more important things to do.”She reaches for the p
7、aper sack. But now I know youll have something to eat. And you need toeat, okay? You have to keep your strength up.”Sighing, I take the bag. I know this peanut butter and jelly sandwich wont be eaten, not any more than the one yesterday or the day before. Anything consumed after 11 ends up in a plas
8、tic basin at 4: 07. Its just the way it works.“Hon, have you thought about what I said the other day ? ” she asks.I shrug noncommittally.“ Sweetheart, you cant hide this foever. Eventually youre going to miss school and people will start asking questions. ”“Mom, I have two months left of high school
9、. I can make it till then. Im class president and probably will make a graduation speech. I was voted Most popular , Most fun to be around , Best smile andMost likely to succeed .Im the girl whos got it all together. People dont want to know that the girl whos got it all together, doesnt have it all

Or closer to home, there is Graeme Murphys Swan Lake, which layers elements of Petipas choreography (編舞)with a contemporary theme and aesthetic. Many contemporary choreographers all embrace classical form and principles, then man

In an interview with The Telegraph (2015), British choreographer Matthew Bourne acknowledges that this a cross-fertilisation ” between contemporary dance and ballet continues to grow, as evidenced by the rise in new comm

28、 withThe NewYork Times, Alastair Macaulay, says : ballet has died again and again over the centuriesand yet, “phoenix-like, rose again from its ashes . History shows there were periods where ballet hibernated and lacked popularity. This coincided with the art forms changing forums.So here is the iro

30、e from the classical canon; I am a traditionalist at heart (who loves to be challenged by good contemporary ballets). A part of the charm behind classical repertoire, for me, was in reproducing the glories of past greats. Classical ballets framework supports the modern process of bench-marking.Perha
31、ps Jennifer Homanss thoughts are not completely unfounded. Perhaps ballet is dying for some. Ballets evolution has been delayed by its audiences. And as Homans suggests in her epilogue, perhaps also by its creatives.Now here is a bold prediction. In line with the Royal Ballets programming in Brisban
32、e this year 一of Christopher Wheeldons The Winters Tale, and Wayne MacGregors Woolf Works over the next 20 years, ballets reliance on Petipa will decrease.
