Youcangetburnedbyavarietyofthing:hotliquids,steam,fire,radiation(bybeingclosetohighheatorfire,etc),thesun,electricityorchemicals.Typesofburns

Therearethreetypesofburns.Burnsarecalledfirst,secondorthirddegreeburns,dependingonwhatlayersoftheskinareburned.◎Firstdegreeburns

Forfirstdegreeburns,placecool,clean,wetclothsoverthemuntilthepainisnotsobad.Forseconddegreeburns,keepclothscoolby

puttingthembackinabasinofcoldwater,squeezingitoutandplacingthemontheburnedareaoverandoveragainforaboutanhouruntilthepainisnotsobad.4

Drytheburnedareagently.Donotrob,asthismaybreakanyblistersandthewoundmaygetinfected.5

Covertheburnedareawithadry,cleanbandagethatwillnotsticktotheskin.Holdthebandageintheplacewithtape.Neverputbutter,oilorointmentonburnsastheykeeptheheatinthewoundsandmaycauseinfection.6
