ithadmadepainstakingeffortstowardsthisgoal.itsdomesticmarketwaseighttimeslargerthanbefore.thewarhaddestroyedtheeconomiesofmostpotentialcompetitors.theunparalleledsizeofitsworkforcehadgivenanimpetustoitseconomy.ThelossofU.S.predominanceintheworldeconomyinthe1980sismanifestedinthefactthatAmerican
