Executivesummary

SinceCOP26inNovember2021,theworldhasbeenupendedbythewarinUkraine,risinginflationand

globaleconomicuncertainty,amongmanyothergeopoliticalcrises.Eachoftheseposesarisktothe

sustainedactionneededtoaddresstheclimatecrisis.Aheadofthisyear’sCOP27inEgypt,wesoughtto

betterunderstandthestateofclimateactionfromtheperspectiveofbusinessleaders.

Deloitte’slatestclimatesurveyof700executives,conductedinAugustandSeptember2022,shedsnewlightonexecutives’topconcernssurroundingtheclimatecrisis,theactionstheyaretakingandthosetheywouldliketoseegovernmentstake,andthegapthatmustbeclosedbetweensentimentandactiontoadvanceprogresstowardamoresustainablefuture.

Keyinsightsinclude:

—Executivesareoptimistic.75%agreeCOP27will

generatetheoutcomesneededtoconformtotheParis

Agreement—and87%sayinvestinginenvironmentally

sustainablepracticeshaslong-termeconomicbenefits.

—Nearly40%oforganizationswillaccelerate

sustainabilityeffortsoverthenextyear.Yet,external

factorssuchasinflationandgeopoliticalissuesare

havinganimpactonsomecorporateclimateand

sustainabilitystrategies.

—Mixedviewsongovernmentsupport.While55%of
