8、能成為客戶的人談話。 Stand around 閑站著，也可以寫成stand about.例如：dont stand around doing nothing, give me a hand with the luggage.別閑站著啥也不干，幫我提提行李。類似的表達(dá)有sit around/about 閑坐著。 on the company 在這段話中的意思是“由公司付錢”。我們也可以說：This meal is on me.這頓飯我請(qǐng)客，我買單。Having another coffee on me .再來一杯咖啡，我買單。 Chit-chat 是“非正式的閑聊”，也可以做動(dòng)詞用。比如:we

9、 are just chit-chating about this and that.我們只是在隨便閑聊而已。 Add up to 意味著，說明。比如：Their action added up to a deliberate flouting of rules.他們的行動(dòng)說明他們?cè)诠室膺`反規(guī)則。Lie in (原因，答案，興趣等)在于 比如：The causes of the war lie in the greed and incompetence of politicians on both sides.戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的起因在于雙方面政界人士的貪婪和無能。注意，如果指責(zé)任，選擇，決策等方面的關(guān)鍵在

10、于某人，習(xí)慣上是用 lie with 。例如；Responsibility for the disaster must ultimately lie with the government.災(zāi)難的責(zé)任完全在于無能的政府。The choice lies with you.由你選擇。 Some people simply have poor timing. 有些人總是提得不合時(shí)宜。Recipe 是“處方，秘訣”的意思，比如He thinks the one recipe for success lies in hard work.他認(rèn)為成功的唯一訣竅在于勤奮。 mix social convers
