大平臺霧凇因庫爾濱水庫的水電站而成。KurbinRimeSceneryisformedbythehydropowerstationofKurbinReservoir.庫爾濱，系滿語，漢譯為“晾魚場”之意。Kurbin,aManchulanguage,means“fishdryingyard”inChineselanguage.庫爾濱河由此得名，它是黑龍江中游南岸支流。KurbinRivergetsitsnamefromitandisatributaryontheSouthBankofthemiddlereachesofHeilongjiangRiver.發(fā)源于小興安嶺北麓的伊春友好林業(yè)局，由南向北行，流經(jīng)克林鎮(zhèn)（大平臺村）、寶山等鄉(xiāng)，在車陸鄉(xiāng)利民村附近注入黑龍江。全長200多公里。ItoriginatesfromYichunFriendshipForestryBureauatthenorthfootofXiaoxinganMountains,runsfromsouthtonorth,flowsthroughKelinTown(BigPlatformVillage),Baoshanandothertownships,andflowsintoHeilongjiangRivernearLiminVillageofCheluTownship.Thetotallengthismorethan200kilometers.

庫爾濱霧凇形成的周期長，可達4個月之久，霧凇每天的停留時間多達10小時。
