alsowanttoseesunsetovertheocean.Inthetropicallands,the

sundropslikeaballofgoldenfireintothesea,anditdropso

quicklythatyoucanalmostseeitmove.Peopleoftenhaveaquiet,

peacefultimehere,perfectforaleisurelywalkalongthewater.

Thefirstpeoplecametollawaiinearlytwothousandyearsago,but

skyscraperhotelswereonlybuiltinthelast25years.Nowyet

airplanesmakeitpossibletoflytoHawaiiforaweekend

fromTokyoorSanFranciscoorLosAngeles.

andLizarushedintothebackyardandfoundabigsnakeentwining

thelittlechildwithitsbodyandtryingtoswallowtheboy.Liza

wasterrifiedandquiteangry.Shemadeuphermindtosaveherson

fromthesnakesmouth.

ItwasmotherslovethatmadeLizaforgetwhatshefaced.Shetook

upanoldhatchetfromthegroundandstruckthesnakewithallher

strength.

Onetwowiththehatchet,Lizahitthesnakeagainandagain,but

shefeltasifshewasstrikingamassofsolidrubber.Thelittle

boysvoiceandbreathweregettingweakerandweaker.Lizasheart

wasbrokenandshegotnearlymad
