1、Rebecca Hein Case Study #8Ethical Behavior of Business Students at Bayview UniversityDuring the global recession of 2008 and 2009, there were many accusations of unethicalbehavior by Wall Street executives, financial managers, and other corporate officers. At thattime, an article appeared that sugge
2、sted that part of the reason for such unethical businessbehavior may stem from the fact that cheating has become more prevalent among businessstudents. The article reported that 56% of business students admitted to cheating at sometime during their academic career as compared to 47% of nonbusiness s
3、tudents.Cheating has been a concern of the dean of the college of Business at BayviewUniversity for several years. Some faculty members in the college believe cheating is morewidespread at Bayview than at other universities, while other faculty members think thatcheating is not a major problem in th
4、e college. To resolve some ofthese issues, the deancommissioned a study to assess the current ethical behavior of business students at Bayview.As part of this study, an anonymous exit survey was administered to a sample of 90 businessstudents form this yearsgraduating class. Responses to the followi

When the stude nts were asked if theyused the Internet to cheat we see that about 18% of them did. For this 18% ofstude nts who resp on ded yes t
16、o using the internet to cheat, 44% weremales and 56% of them were females. About 21% of the females claimed tohave cheated that way whereas about 14.5% of males did. So here we seethat more females used the Internet to cheat tha n males.Whe n asked if the stude nt copied on an exam 20% said yes. Out
17、 ofthe stude nts who resp on ded yes to copy ing on an exam, 50% were malesand 50% of them were females. About 21% of females an swered yes to thisand about 19% of males also resp on ded with yes. So here we see that itwas pretty similar for the males and females that have copied on an exam.Whe n as
18、ked if the stude nt collaborated on an in dividual projectabout 47% of stude nts resp on ded yes. Out of the stude nts who resp onded yes to collaborati ng on an in dividual project, about 38% were femaleand 62% were males. About 26% of the females resp on ded yes and about38% of males did. So here
