1、A Comme nt on Rob inson CrusoeI was just a schoolchild when I read Robinson Crusoe for the first time. At that time, I just felt that Robinson was such a hero that he could survive in that terrible living conditions. Now that I have grown up to an adult, I have some new opinions about this novel.Fir

2、st, I want to talk about the author. Daniel Defoe, an English novelist, journalist, and pamphleteer, is mainly known as the author of his masterpiece Robinson Crusoe. Defoe is considered as the founder of the English novel. He was born in London, the son of a butcher. And he suffered a lot in his en

3、tire life, bankrupt, imprisonment and heavy debt. When he was nearly 60, he turned to fiction and wrote the great masterpiece by which he is remembered.T he features of Defoe s novels As a writer of the Enlightenment, Defoe attached great importance to the moulding of character and to the education

4、through the influence of varied environment. He also wrote some novels such as Captain Singleton and Moll Flanders during his remaining years.The theme and the significance of the novel Robinson Crusoe” Robinson Crusoe sings a song of labor, presenting it as the source of human pride and happiness a

5、s well as a means to change man living conditions from desperation to prosperity. It a slogan which the bourgeoisie used to justify their accumulation of wealth. It is an artistic projection of colonial expansion. (the civilized vs. the savage) The theme of “ back to nature ”nd religious devotion. O

6、n the whole, Robinson Crusoe is significant as the first English novel which glorifies the individual experience of ordinary people in plain and simple language, and also as a vivid and positive portray of the English bourgeoisie at the earlier stages of its development.The image of Robinson Crusoe

He conquered countless and unimaginable hardships. If let me stay on a lonely island, I absolutely could not v

14、anquish so many dangers;l maybe would lose confidence for life. So I respect Robinson very much, he is my hero. He lived on the island for about 30 years without any food, any tool and any habitation. He had no other person to depend on but himself, however, Robinson was not afraid of these, he had

15、the fortitude spirit. He made the best of his head and hands to struggle with the nature all the time. I admired his courage very much. He is a man of fortitude. He used guns to kill the wild animals in the forest, and got a lot of food to eat,besides, he also had built a house to live. What s more,

16、 he was very clever, he fed wild animals every day until they grew up, so that he can obtain more and more food. In the description of Robinson Hfe on the land, Defoe glorifies human labor. I m quite agree with him atthat point. The teacher tells us that labor will help create a better future at ear

17、lier time. Hundreds years ago, we got poor natural environment and we must develop and conserve the natural resources to make it more comfortable for human to live. But now the proposition changes, we have done so much destruction to the earth that the earth is paying back. Now we should get along i

18、n harmony with nature rather than control it. Thes limit;character of Robinson is representative of the English bourgeoisie at the earlier stages of its development. Robinson is not only a laborer, but a capitalist and a colonist. It true that Robinson has the spirit of adventure, which is correspond with that period, but he sets sail to sell Negroes and aims at possessing more and more wealth.
